Unread post BBLight for Storm OS 5.0?
Hi there,

Having been a happy user of BBLight for several months, I have just upgraded my Storm to OS 5.0 (leaked), and find that BBLight doesn't work. It freezes the phone when I try to launch it. Is there a fix available?

Many thanks in advance,

Simon.

I'll try it in the 5.0 beta simulator and see that happens...

Thanks, that would be great. :)

If it's of any importance, I am using 5.0.0.216, on O2-UK.

I can't try it on the Storm. JDE 5.0 only comes with simulators for the Bold and Curve. It works fine on the 5.0 Bold simulator, though.

On the Storm, it freezes the whole phone when you try to enter the BBLight config screen. Sorry, I don't have any other BBs to try it on, but I know it's not just me, as others have posted on CrackBerry forums about it. :)

I'm having the same problem on a Bold running 5.0.0.238. Worked flawlessly in previous OS versions. I assume once 5.0+ becomes officially available BBlight won't work properly?

I was hoping that with 5.0*, we wouldn't need apps like BBLight. How ridiculous is it that the backlight doesn't come on automatically by default? Surely, if you get a calendar alert, or a message, you want to see it!

That said, assuming BlackBerry don't implement this, it would be great if BBLight could be made to work, as it's something I really miss.

I have a Bold running OS 4.6. The only way I can test OS 5.0 is in the simulator. It works in the Bold 5.0 simulator so there is no way for me to figure out why it is broken for all of you.

Might be a stupid question, but as a Storm user, is there anything I could do to help?

Just another update - I now have a Storm 2, and BBLight does at least load on this version. The program settings appear, but the light still doesn't work with SMS, Email or Calendar / Task notifications. :(
